You'll have enough material for a book soon!

My beef is with medical professionals who know fuck all about addiction.

Like the doctor who responded to my assertion that as a recovered drug addict I not be prescribed narcotics unless there was a clear medical necessity.

"Oh, that won't be a problem. I'll only prescribe a small number of Percocet and when they're gone, I won't give you anymore."

I told him that in less than half an hour I'd find anything (and more) that he wouldn't "give" me out on the street.

Or the nurse practioner who prescribed Tramadol since it's "not a narcotic" for a repetitive motion injury. In under 40 minutes I knew we had trouble. As soon as I could, I got to a computer and typed in Tramadol.

Giant red letters across the top of the page: "NEVER to be prescribed to anyone with a history of drug or alcohol abuse".

When I called the clinic to let them know not to be doling out Tramadol to us junkies, they were pretty snippy.

Thanks for asking!
