What One Hundred and Twenty Weeks of Buttondown Looks like
My newsletter saga thus far
You have to build an email list they said. You have to develop your audience they said. Try a newsletter. Build a website. Publish ebooks on Amazon. Take over the world! It’ll be fun.
Maybe you’re different, but I tend to ignore pretty much everything they say.
The newsletter thing, however, I decided that might work for me. And it turns out that it does work for me…just not in the way “they” seem to think it should. For one thing, the readers aren’t necessarily flocking to subscribe. I hit 120 weeks of creating this baby last week and just today another subscriber bailed. I’ll never know what sent that particular subscriber on their way. But this means we’re sitting at 85 regular subscribers and three premium subscribers (may the saints bless and keep them).
Whatever high ambitions I might have started out with here have been firmly put in their place. At its highest, my subscriber count was 96.
There are two ways of looking at this. ONLY 96? or WOWWWWW 96 people at one point or another decided that they like what I write enough…
