There is an enormous disconnect between what the various grand poobahs think is going on in this city and this country and what is actually happening. Why TF does the MTA even bother with these stupid flashing signs on the buses? Less than half the riders and easily that many drivers on any given day are bare-faced. Not to mention the rare police officers who show up from time to time. New York’s finest are mostly unmasked and many of them remain unvaccinated.

There’s public service for ya.

And the bean-counters down at 2 Broadway must be sick of the saturation of these types of signs taking up valuable advertising space in the subway, amiright?

So, no, Jackson, face coverings are not required on public transit. That’s made abundantly clear every day when we who are masked are in the minority. When something is required — say, like paying taxes or not leaving your kid in the car out in the Walmart parking lot with the windows rolled up in August — those things are enforced. Ask the IRS or Child Protective Services.
