I doubt the old guy really cares, but Flaco, the twelve-year old fugitive Eurasian Eagle-Owl has basically become just another bird in Central Park. Yawn.

Ask the Google about this one-time media sensation and the most recent hit is dated March 18. Although he does have his own Wikipedia page, so his place in history is secure. But now that Flaco has proven he can hunt rats with the best of them and do for himself, he’s essentially just another old New York bachelor marking time.

Sad to say the nearest a female Eurasian Eagle-Owl lives too far away to consider hooking up.

Gone are the days of being lauded on late night television or making the evening news. Remember when even the CBC got in on the action? Pretty heady stuff for a humble gigantic owl with a seven-foot wingspan. Chances are Flaco wasn’t really tuning into all that notoriety. He couldn’t have missed that there were crowds of people following him from one end of the park to the other, though. Right?

Hopefully he was more focused on killing rats and giving resident crows grief than in…
