Peace Will Never be Profitable

And until it is, this world will not give peace a chance. Sorry, John.

Apparently, the Big Lesson that this country took away from The Good War was that war is great for the economy. More war, more profit. This was all very well and good for Mister and Missus Average (white) Taxpayer. But then this country made a far more sinister discovery. You don’t even have to win a war to clean up.

Since then a significant part of the United States’ budget and economy is — cough, cough — defense spending.

WTF Does the Dept. of Defense Defend?

Just to be clear on this “holiday”, the government of the United States (as well as a number of other big dogs in the game) will not give peace a chance. What are you, nuts? Wall Street would lose its shit. We can’t even fathom how many war-related pies our captains of industry have their fat fingers plunged into. For every Lockheed Martin, there are countless peripheral businesses that rely on the health of just that one weapons manufacturer to stay afloat.
