I’m Going to March Against War

And I haven’t told any of my friends

There’s going to be an anti-war protest march organized by the American Libertarian Party and The People’s Party in Washington DC this Sunday, February 19th. I’m going. I’ve got my bus ticket. It’s going to be inconvenient AF since I have several important things I can’t postpone the next day. I’ll have to get up earlier than I like to catch the bus someplace in Midtown (at least it’s not looking like rain). I’m also not thrilled by the stands some of the scheduled speakers have on issues aside from being staunchly anti-war.

All that aside, this bit is making me feel queasy and odd. I haven’t told any of my friends that I’m doing this and I may not.

And it’s not as if I have ignorant friends or anything.

But the hook was set long ago so that when the Powers That Be gave it a good solid yank, pretty much everyone I know went right along with what they were being told. Which is so weird.

In fact, one of my oldest friends no longer reads my work and our frequent dinner dates require a complicated choreography to ensure I don’t piss her off. She has colleagues in Kyiv and to her, this is all very simple. In fact, to most of my friends and practically everyone I know this is all very simple. People I’ve known and loved and trusted for…
