Collaborating Women Part I
Nudes by Emily Stedman and Narrative by Remington Write
In 2014 I had the great good fortune to meet watercolorist, Emily Stedman, who wanted more than simple captions for her most recent series. She wanted narrative. Collaborating Women is the result of our work together which was exhibited at Noho M55 Gallery in January, 2015.
Born of a time of smoke, darkness and piety, he retreated into the richness of his never quiet thoughts and strode across a world stage to dominate vast fields of research and technology.
So very far ahead of the others, the tinkerers and small men with small grubby grabbing hands and minds; how could he not call them out? And how could all that turmoil, intention, lasered success translate to this small desolation?
How is he here in this dingy place with only pigeons to witness his still towering flowering vaulting brilliance? Was he naïve or betrayed or both?
We all are still in his debt and yet he died in poverty, alone, abandoned and ridiculed. A shabby, grasping mob will never do more than exploit his kind and what a tragedy that he never saw that and never stopped trying to offer us salvation.
